Apocalyptica - Beyond Time
Nie jestem jakims wielkim fanem Apocalyptici, ale czasami lubie posłuchać tych spokojniejszych kawałków dla relaksu. Ten przypadał mi bardzo do gustu. Smyczki, ehh... pięknie się słucha, spokojna muzyka, nastrojowy klimacik. Lekkie wejście gitarowe, może nawet zbędne, ale to taki epizodzik tylko, bo pierwsze skrzypce gra wiolonczela. ;P Fajne.

Pomimo raczej typowo hollywoodzkiej fabuly, ta opowiesc o jaskiniowcach oglada sie calkiem przyjemnie a to co mnie zachwycilo to swietnie przedstawione sceny, w ktorych wystepowaly zwierzeta, zaczynajac od wołów piżmowych a na wielkim jaskiniowym niedzwiedziu konczac. Piekne byly tez scenerie, w ktorych rozgrywala sie historia. I nie bojac sie niezrozumienia uwazam, ze Sympathy to jeden z najlepszych utworow na plycie, a takze znakomicie buduje caly klimat Tripticu.

Fajnie widziec, ze autor (najwyrazniej zdystasowany wobec Glacy) stwierdzil, ze to jest to... Wiem, ze wielu glowka kiwa z politowaniem na ta balladke, ale zgadzam sie z Zulczykiem:

"W każdym razie, w przeciwieństwie do piosenki z Edytą Górniak i programowanych bębnów "Czasu", sweetnoise'owa wersja szlagieru Stonesów nie wzbudza poczucia obciachu, raczej wywołuje uczucia czysto muzyczne - buja i wzbudza wewnętrzny relaks. For some reason I never like operas from later periods. For instance, I fell asleep listening to Madama butterfly, Mastersinger and .. a few of Puccini's operas whose names I don't bother remembering. I guess that has to do with how one savors operatic music? For instance, a friend of mine takes it as a more grandeur presentation of broadway music performance (such as cats/etc), so he's more concerned with plots, characters and stage props than me. He's the type who has to attend a public performance to 'listen' to operatic music, whereas I'd prefer to just watch the stage performance once and listen to CDs, again, again, and again.

For me, in general I prefer recordings coming out of recording studios rather than live recordings. Since what I want is the music, not the costumes, actings, etc that goes with it. Besides ... arias with strong outbursts of emotional cries/praises aren't my cup of tea.. (in ref to Carmen and a few others from the romantic period)

Based on my observations and comparisons between several DVDs (live performance) and my own cd collection, there's some notable differences in the quality of the recording - just imagine that the singers would have to run around the stage acting while singing - it's very taxing even to an athlete, so one may just conjecture that not all attention/energy's directed to a single action of singing alone, thus influencing the quality of the performance (of course I could be wrong).

imo, one notable difference between music from the classical and romantic eras is that the latter is, in general, more expressive and passionate - expressed in more elaborate musical forms and structures. I'm not sure if I'm using the right adjectives for these (since I'm not a music major anyways), but that's how I feel about it. While Beethoven's the greatest among the composers, his music is both vehement and dominant, as if it tries to takeover or overwhelm all of our senses at every turn, but I find it too heavy for me since this isn't the sorta music to relax one's mind. This pretty much summarizes why I am a fan of Mozart's music (and I like some baroque, such as Bach, Handel and Vivaldi, music as well)

Although I have one of the best recordings of La Boheme (based on reviews in Amazon.com), I don't really like it. It's just there as some sorta place holder Outta the 30+ tracks of music + conversations in the recording, there's only one track that I like - then again, I might feel different after reading the libretto perhaps? But the music didn't interest me enough to read the libretto heh

As for Tchaikovsky's music... some of his most famous works basically cloud the listeners with very sweet but melancholy melodies that can break one down to tears during the first few hearings - (such as the 2nd last scene in swan lake, after the prince dances with the dark swan who imposes as the swan princess, the princess was forced to remain in her present form forever. Anyways, there are several versions of swan lake, and mine comes with a bad ending In general, sweet melodies are good, so I'm gonna start collecting his compositions after I'm done with Mozart's.

Sorry that I digressed. Think I'm gonna Ro abit in eRO during weekends, but I'm very unwilling to 'invest' $ to an online game, even if it's wow. Sorry about that owa.
